McTimoney Method

Developed by John McTimoney, over 30 years ago, the technique is only taught at the McTimoney College of Chiropractic in Abingdon, near Oxford and is now practiced by over a quarter of chiropractors in the UK.

The McTimoney approach is a whole body technique which uses precise, fast, light adjustments. The adjustments are performed by hand to the bones with the aim of gently re-establishing the correct alignment and function of the joints and to ensure that the body’s nerve supply works efficiently. A thorough assessment of the patient takes place and addresses all joints from the head to the toes.

With a focus on maximum patient comfort the McTimoney technique is a gentle alternative to those who prefer not to experience ‘cracking’ or ‘popping’ sounds.

McTimoney gentle but thorough approach means that a treatment might take a little longer to perform than some other techniques and extra time is required (about ½ hour) to complete each session.
